EACF 40 Days of Prayer - January 2, 2020

EACF 40 Days of Prayer 2020
Day 2: Praying for Fruit of Love

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit." - Galatians 5:22-25 ESV

We are going to camp out on these verses for the next nine days as we "Pray for Good." What does it mean to pray for good? We believe that God is good and that His intentions are for us to experience His goodness, even as we wrestle with life in this broken world. So, to focus on the first part of the fruit of the Spirit, let's pray for love. Pray to experience God's love in very real ways today.

To experience the fruit of the Spirit, we must grasp that Jesus died and severed our relationship with sin and gave us new life in Him - He saved us from sin and death and saved us for new life in Him. He promised His disciples that the Spirit would come (John 16) and the Spirit that powered Jesus' resurrection is powering that new life in us (Ephesians 1:17-20). This is not something we control; rather, we give control over to God and ask Him to do what only He can do - cause us to grow in faith and Christ-likeness. Pray for God's very real love to stir your heart and mind today.

Remember, each day of these forty days, pray for two (2) others at EACF. Pray for them what you prayed for yourself. Write down the names of those for whom you prayed, and after forty days you should have a list of 80 different people. You can encourage them and send them a message saying you prayed for them today. As we do this, God will work powerfully through our group, bringing us closer together and closer to Him.

This is day 2 as we "Pray for Good." Enjoy God's goodness today!
