EACF 40 Days of Prayer 2020
Day 26: Pray for a Thankful Heart

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. - Colossians 1:9-14 ESV

Happy Sunday! The Christians in Colosse and the surrounding region had a lot of good going on and had a lot of growing still to do. We all do. But what encourages us is how faithful God is and how great His promises are. He has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. Who did this work? He did, not us. Every good thing we have is from His hand. When we have a thankful heart, it allows us to be patient, to look toward His process, to wait on Him, to follow Him. We know the inheritance we have ahead of us. Unlike the prodigal son, let us trust the Father's plan to deliver it to us. Let us find our joy and contentment in His will for us. This is a good thing!

Give thanks for God's work in your life, bringing you from darkness to light. Give thanks for the future and the present He has for you. Give thanks for the place where you are right now. Give thanks for the people He's placed you among, to grow as a family of faith. Let thankfulness be your attitude throughout the day, each day, that you would have a patient and hopeful faith, trusting in His provision and plan.

Pray for two others to be encouraged in this way, seeing how the Father loves them. Write down their names, and show them God's love by sending them a note! This is day 26 of praying for good.
