EACF 40 Days of Prayer - January 7, 2020

EACF 40 Days of Prayer 2020
Day 7: Praying for Fruit of Goodness

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit." - Galatians 5:22-25 ESV

As we "Pray for Good," what does it mean to pray for goodness?
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." - 1 Peter 4:10
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10
"Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God." - 3 John 11

We pray to experience God's good nature as He gives grace to us, and we pray for His goodness to characterize us as we share His good with those around us. Let the Spirit remind us of His goodness each day - we are surrounded by God's goodness in the breath that we have in our lungs, in the work we have before us, in the food we eat and water we drink, and in the people we meet. Count your blessings! And then give thanks! And then let that goodness transform you into a force for good wherever you are.

Pray to experience God's goodness and for others around you to experience God's goodness, too. Remember to write down the names of those for whom you prayed. Encourage them and send them a message saying you prayed for them today. As we do this, God will work powerfully through our group, bringing us closer together and closer to Him.

This is day 7 as we "Pray for Good." Bless others with God's kindness today!
